Our Love Story: Proposal

Two days before Valentines Day, Jared told me that I should wear a pretty dress that coming Monday. Said we'd "go for lunch or something." I was surprised because we had never done anything for that holiday. I knew that he was planning to propose before our May graduation, but convinced myself that since (I thought) I knew he didn't have a ring, it would be closer to my birthday or graduation itself.

Valentines Day morning came and I dressed up a little. We were to meet in the library at 12. There I sat, waiting for my boyfriend to come in. Ten minutes later, I see him with a large bouquet of red and yellow roses! First, he is never late. I was especially glad to see him since it had been a while! "awww.. roses, how sweet!" I thought. He handed me the roses, fancy chocolate and took my free hand. We left the library but didn't head directly to a parking lot. He kept taking out his phone and shielded it from me. (I was uncharacteristically uninterested) The entire walk, he seemed to be squeezing my hand!

So we continued walking towards the middle of campus and sat on a "random" bench by the lake. As we settled down, he let go of my hand and didn't take it again. We sat there, talking about nothing important. I was hungry but I was with my boyfriend, he bought me flowers, and it was a lovely day so I didn't mind.

"Rachel, I have a question to ask."

^he's not proposing is he?^

"How long have we been dating?"

^he knows we already decided it's been about 3 years... why is he asking again?^

So we talked about that for a minute but he didn't really seem to be in that conversation.

He started saying something about, well, I don't know.
But he stood up,
^what is he doing?^

knelt down,
^no, really??^

and pulled out a ring!
^oh my word! he is!^

He then asked if I would be his wife.

I said "sure... yes!"

He stood up and hugged me. :) After about a minute, he told me that he had asked Mrs. Myers to camp out on the balcony of the student center to take pictures as well as his friend Matt who was across the lake. I was just a little surprised!

Come to find out, everyone in the student center was watching and cheering for us! At least two random people congratulated us later on- evidently we were quite the lunchtime entertainment for the day!

He Asked Me a Question...

and I said YES!!!!

(maybe a little too loudly, because the hidden photographer heard me from across the lake....)

I'll post the story when I get more pictures!

A What?

A NEW CAR!!!!!!

Ok, just a new-to-me car. But it is my very first, very OWN car!

Here's what he looks like.

He is a 2006 Dodge Stratus with only 47,000 miles. His only problem is that he is an automatic and I had hoped for another manual. I bought him almost week and a half ago. His name is Jed (as in Jedidiah). Don't ask me why. That's just what he told me. :)

January!

it's January, people!

School has started for the last time. I'm taking 3 classes, a 2 weekend seminar, and my 150 hour internship.

Speaking of my internship- I start today! Deaconess Pregnancy and Adoption Services has been a ministry to women and their babies since 1900, placing more than 5,000 babies since then. The atmosphere is amazing. These ladies love the Lord, the grieving parents, and the innocent babies. I am already praying God will create a job there for me!!

Break was a great time of relaxation, friends I haven't seen in months, just being with my family, baking yummies and sewing dresses. We usually get 4 weeks off between semesters, but for whatever reason, we only got 3 weeks this time. I didn't think I was ready to go back yesterday, but I am ready now! It's crazy how one day can change things! 116 days til graduation!! Hard to believe.

Had an amazing weekend! It started off with our annual girls night at my friend Katie's house, and ended with a (kinda stupid) movie at my boy's. I didn't realize how much I needed to get away from the stress of somethings that have been happening at home. Even though we didn't sleep much, laughing and talking with my best friends was exactly what I needed before I started school!

Waiting can be so difficult.

My father informed us a few weeks ago that we will now be attending Crossing Community Church. It is a little bigger than I thought we'd go for, but by this point, I'm just ready to "settle down" church wise. It's time we just pick a place and go for it!

Guess that's about it for now. :)

A Christmas Miracle

It all started this morning as I began to create an outfit in my head.

*needs to be long sleeved because we're going to walk around downtown*
*why is 98% of the clothes in this closet short sleeved?*
*what is this? I've never seen this long sleeved sweater before!*
"Sarah, did you buy this?"
"nope, never seen it before, but it's pretty!"
*hmm... that's odd.. maybe it's a miracle!*
(mom comes in)

"mom, have you seen this before?"
"no, but it's pretty!"
*we're all agreed it's pretty*
*it is a Christmas miracle!*
(i put it on to face the final test)

"Rachel, you're wearing a pretty sweater i've never seen."
"really Grace? you've never seen it? IT'S A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE!!!!!!!!!!"

Beautiful, brand new, long sleeved sweater on the day I needed one. :)

Oh, and when choosing a boy, make sure he has good taste in jewelry!
(for inquiring minds, there is no ring as of yet)
